SPORT OVERVIEW
Westfield Green Wave (WYSI Cross Country) was established in 2012 as a running club for Westfield boys and girls in grades kindergarten through sixth grade. Green Wave cross country is an all inclusive sport, meaning we accept and encourage runners from every skill level to join. Our focus is providing a fun opportunity for athletes to learn the basics of the team sport of Cross Country while challenging themselves individually. Our culture is one of positivity and improvement by teaching them proper mechanics, self discipline, rigor, and a respect for the sport. Cross Country is a co-ed sport - boys and girls are eligible to participate.
Our standard practice schedule is Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6pm until 7:15pm on our home course at Monon Trail Elementary School. In October practices
will be shortened and will end at 7pm due to earlier sunset. November practices start times TBD. Practices include a brief team meeting, stretching, running activity, strength and conditioning, and a PR ribbon handout.
We will host a time trial, two club meets for Westfield athletes only, and the Westfield Fall Kick Off Classic. All of these will be held at Monon Trail Elementary. Entry fees for all regular season Saturday meets are included with registration. The 2022 regular season will end with the IYTA Championship. There will be one or two after regular season meets that your athlete can opt to participate in if they choose to. A USATF membership will be required for those meets.
Green Wave Cross Country is a member of the IYTA (Indiana Youth Track Association) Conference. Our club will compete at meets with conference mates
Body in Training, Fishers Fire, Athlead Indy and many others. Meet schedule TK.
