Thank you to everyone who attended tryouts.  If you didn't make a squad this season, we hope you'll choose to REGISTER NOW to cheer on a recreational football cheer squad, which will begin this fall.  The extra practice will help prepare you for next season's Basketball Travel Cheerleading Squad.  Good Luck!
2010 -2011 5th/6th grade Travel Cheer Squads:
Travel admin fee ($15 per season) and cheer camp fee ($40) due AT or BEFORE tryouts on Friday, May 21st. Registration cost for football ($90) will be due At or BEFORE uniform fitting on June 3rd at 5:00 PM.  Cheerleaders will receive an email with location information.
  For all estimated cost information regarding uniforms or any accessory pieces for the 2010 football season, please contact the cheer commissioner by email at cblaine7687@msn.com .  Costs will vary slightly year to year.
 * Cheerleaders will perform in the Carmelfest Parade on Monday, July 5th.  All squads will attend Cheer Camp at  Westfield High School – June 24th, 25th, and 26, 2010.

The WYSI  Cheer  program will be hosting

Cheer Clinic/Mock Tryout 

to prepare those girl's who wish to tryout for the

WYSI Travel Basketball Squad 

NO PREVIOUS TUMBLING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED!

Where: Westfield High School (entrance #13- Upstairs MPIF)

Requirements: This clinic is specifically designed for those girl's who will be enrolled in 5th and 6th grade for the 2010-11 school year.

When: CLINIC IS CURRENTLY CLOSE, BUT WILL RE-OPEN IN MID-LATE SEPTEMBER 2010.

Clinic Fee:  $25.00  All girl's will be participating in cheers, sideline chants, fitness drills, stunts, and tumbling

For those students in 6th grade wishing to pursue cheer at the Westfield Middle School level, we will also review  tryout information needed for the 2011-2012 school year!

Tryout Information/Cost:  Tryouts take place every spring and fall. Tryouts are open to all girls who will be entering 4th, 5th or 6th grade in the Westfield Washington school system.  Tryouts will take place mid to late May at Westfield High School and then again in Mid-Late September.  Cost to register for tryout is $15 + Annual Cheer Camp $40 due AT or BEFORE tryouts. Registration cost per season $90+ due At or BEFORE fitting. All other fees, including practice fees and uniform rental fees will be announced and assessed throughout the season. Girls who do not make a travel cheer squad will not be charged, with the exception of the tryout reg. fee...but are encouraged to register for the fall/winter recreational cheer squads where they can develop their skill to improve their tryout performace the following sesaon.


Clinic(s):  There will be a  mandatory clinic/Mock Tryout that will be three days in length prior to tryout(s). All girls will be participating in a group chant, short dance routine, and tumbling to prepare for their tryout. The girl's must also create their own individual cheer (not chant) to perform for the judges. IF POSSIBLE, BEGIN TO PREPARE FOR TRY-OUTS AT LEAST 2 MONTHS IN ADVANCE.

 

Parent Meeting:  Parents are encouraged to attend the parent meeting, held BEFORE CLINIC where they will receive any and all pertinent information about the upcoming cheer season. Parent Meetings will be announced 1-2 weeks prior to the beginning of that seasons clinic/tryout

  

Practices:  Squads will be practicing twice a week.  1st practice day of the week will be to develop the girl's cheer motions, techniques, stunting, and tumbling skills. 2nd day of practice will be developing their half-time or event routine(s). Practices will be led by the instructional staff members at Speed Athletics.  Travel games will be held on Saturday and/or Sunday evenings.
This program was designed, not only to create a strong and talented cheerleader, but one that promotes teamwork, making new friends, and most importantly, for those girl's to have a great time!
