WYSI Girls Volleyball

Registrations for Fall 2011 are currently open until August 1st!!  Click on the "registration" button on the home page to get your child registered.  Girls in grades 3-8 are eligible to play.  Anyone in 7/8th grade who wants to play but will be trying out for the school team, just drop an email to the commissioner, Nannette Rader (nannetterader@gmail.com) , to let her know of your intentions.  This is only to assist in planning purposes.   Of course, we always need volunteers!  If you are able and willing to help in any way, please contact the commissioner. 

Tentative schedule:

Evaluations: first week in August.

Practice to begin 2nd week in August with games starting 2 weeks later.  There will be one game per week after than until the tournament,  which is the week of October 17th.

3/4 graders will practice for 1 hour each week.  5/6th and 7/8th will practice for 90 minutes each week.   

All coaches will be required to attend a coach's clinic so that everyone is learning the same rules and skills.  Date and time TBA. 

If you are looking to buy a volleyball for your child to practice with, we use the Volley-Lite brand which is much easier on the arms for younger girls.  It doesn't sting when they pass the ball but is still official size and weight.  They may be found at Dicks Sporting Goods as well as other athletic supplies stores. 

General Information

WYSI hosts 3 girls in-house volleyball leagues.  3/4th grade, 5/6th grade, and 7/8th grade.  The season begins in mid-August and runs until the end of October.  There will be one night of practice and one night for games each week.  Registration will begin July 1st and end August 7th, 2011.  There will be mandatory player evaluations prior to teams being made.  The dates for that will be announced as we get closer to the season.  We will be working with the WHS Varsity Coach, Stacie Pagnard, and her staff to prepare our players and coaches for a successful season.  More specific information on that to follow.  If you have any questions or comments, don't hesitate to contact Nannette Rader, Volleyball Commissioner at Nannetterader@gmail.com.  We will see you this fall!!
