The Girls 1st-6th In-House and Boys/Girls Coed Instructional League will be starting in Mid-January.

You can still register through Dec. 15th online or at the following registration date.

Dec. 8th at Shamrock Springs Cafeteria from 9am-11:30am

EVALUATIONS:  Girls 3rd thru 6th Grade Evaluations will take place on the following dates/times:  (Please try to attend at least one session.)

Monday, January 7, 2008 - 7 to 8pm - WWES - 3rd and 4th Graders 

Monday, January 7, 2008 - 7 to 8pm - SSES - 5th and 6th Graders

Thursday, January 10, 2008 - 6 to 7pm - WWES 3rd and 4th Graders

Thursday, January 10, 2008 - 7 to 8pm - SSES - 5th and 6th Graders

 WYSI League Descriptions

WYSI sponsors an in-house recreational basketball league for both boys and girls grades Kindergarten through 6th. They also have a competitive travel team program for boy’s grades 3rd through 6th. The in-house leagues will focus on teaching and improving basic fundamentals and team play. The in-house leagues are open participation (i.e.; no tryouts but evaluations to make teams as close to equal as possible). Participation in the travel teams will be based on tryouts held in September. The leagues are arranged as follows:

Instructional (Kindergarten): An in-house instructional coed league. Emphasis is placed on introducing the boys and girls to basic fundamentals of the game in a fun and non-competitive setting. Practices and games are played the same night (Typically Friday’s) with 45 minutes of practice followed by 45 minutes of game time. The season starts in Mid-January and ends in March.

Recreational Boys 1st: An in-house instructional league. Emphasis is placed on introducing the boys to basic fundamentals of the game in a fun and non-competitive setting. Practices and games are played the same night (Typically Friday’s) with 45 minutes of practice followed by 45 minutes of game time.  The season starts in October and ends in January.

Recreational Girls 1st: An in-house instructional league. Emphasis is placed on introducing the girls to basic fundamentals of the game in a fun and non-competitive setting.  The season starts in January and ends in March. The teams will practice one night week and have one game per week.

Recreational Boys 2nd – 6th: An in-house recreational league for boys in grades 2nd through 6th. Emphasis is placed on developing and improving basketball skills in a more competitive atmosphere. The season starts in October and ends with a tournament in January. The teams will practice one night week and have one game per week on Saturday’s.

Recreational Girls 2nd – 6th: An in-house recreational league for girls in grades 2nd through 6th. Emphasis is placed on developing and improving basketball skills in a more competitive atmosphere. The season starts in January and ends with a tournament in March. The teams will practice one night week and have one game per week.

Travel Boys 3rd – 6th: A travel league for boys in grades 3rd through 6th. Teams will be placed in very competitive leagues with the understanding that there is some traveling involved for games/tournaments. Also there is a higher commitment level expected of those who make the team. Participation will be based on tryouts held in September. Emphasis is placed on improving physical conditioning, improving basketball skills, and developing new skills in a more competitive environment. Practices are held 2 nights per week with varying game days (typically Saturday’s and Sunday’s).
