5th and 6th Grade Tackle is an in-house (i.e. no travel) recreational league for 5th and 6th
grade boys. This is a
competitive, open participation league. All games are played at Grand Park.
The league supplies the game day uniform, helmet, shoulder pads, and mouthpieces, but each player is required to obtain their own cleats and practice pants as well as bring their own water to all practices and games.
Our evaluation dates are spent collecting player metrics and observing skills so that we can "score" a player. We do this to establish a baseline score when drafting each team for the in-house league, as well as identifying those players that belong on the travel team at the 5/6 level.
Install dates are a collective effort to install Westfield's base offensive and defensive plays, alignments, and assignments with the entire division participating as one.
Special Notes:
- Evaluations/Install are conducted in full pads.
- Please make sure that you follow the instructions on fitting the mouthpiece.
- Please ensure that you always send plenty of water for your player.
- Please help us keep Grand Park free of trash following practices and games.
- Please review the WYSI Code of Conduct in the Policies & Procedure

Catapult Sports Resources
An extraordinary opportunity that was posed to our WYSI football program to help not only our great nation, but the entire world make the sport of football more safe and more fun for everyone involved. Catapult Sports has sensors encased in a light weight spandex holster that would be placed on the back of select players under their pads during practices to help collect a host of different numbers and data points. Below are some resources to educate yourself on this great program.
