In-House Football

Sport Overview

  • Flag Football is an in-house recreational league for kindergarteners. Emphasis is placed on introducing the players to the fundamentals of the game in a fun, less physical format. All games are played at Grand Park. Flag football will have practices one night a week (day varies, depending on coaches), and play 1 game a week on Saturday.

  • 1st Grade Instructional is an in-house recreational league for 1st grade boys. This is a non-competitive, open participation league, to introduce fundamentals of football. The instructional league will also prepare them for tackle by introducing helmets and pads. The basis for this league is Fundamentals, Instruction and Fun. All games are played at Grand Park. Practice will be 2 nights a week, and games will either be Wednesdays or Saturdays.

  • 2nd Grade Tackle is an in-house recreational league for 2nd grade boys. This is a competitive, open participation league. All games are played at Grand Park. Practices will be two nights a week and all games will be Wednesday or Saturdays.

  • 3rd Grade Tackle is an in-house recreational league for 3rd grade boys. This is a competitive, open participation league. All games are played at Grand Park. Practices will be two nights a week and all games will be Wednesday or Saturdays.

  • 4th Grade Tackle is an in-house recreational league for 4th grade boys. This is a competitive, open participation league. All games are played at Grand Park. Practices will be two nights a week and all games will be Wednesdays or Saturdays.

  • 5th and 6th Grade Tackle is an in-house (i.e. no travel) recreational league for 5th and 6th grade boys. This is a competitive, open participation league. All games are played at Grand Park.

The league supplies the game day uniform, helmet, shoulder pads, and mouthpieces, but each player is required to obtain their own cleats and practice pants as well as bring their own water to all practices and games.

Our evaluation dates are spent collecting player metrics and observing skills so that we can "score" a player. We do this to establish a baseline score when drafting each team for the in-house league, as well as identifying those players that belong on the travel team at the 5/6 level.

Install dates are a collective effort to install Westfield's base offensive and defensive plays, alignments, and assignments with the entire division participating as one.

Special Notes:

  • Evaluations/Install are conducted in full pads.
  • Please make sure that you follow the instructions on fitting the mouthpiece.
  • Please ensure that you always send plenty of water for your player.
  • Please help us keep Grand Park free of trash following practices and games.
  • Please review the WYSI Code of Conduct in the Policies & Procedure
