DIVISIONS


BACKYARD LACROSSE

When: Sundays  September 7 - October 27
Fee:  No cost (registration is required)
Location: Freedom Trail Park

This is an opportunity for returning players to get the stick back in their hands, and to introduce the game to new players. The primary goal is to play lacrosse. Coaches will be available to introduce the basic skills of lacrosse, but the focus will be playing age-appropriate lacrosse in an informal, laid-back setting. Backyard Lacrosse will be open to 1st through 8th graders. Full lacrosse equipment will be required to play in games. If you do not have full equipment, no worries! Come out anyway. We will have some equipment, and players can participate in fun, non-contact drills.

Backyard Lacrosse starts September 7th and will be on Sunday afternoons from 4-6:00pm at Freedom Trail until the end of October. Depending on weather, date and times will change accordingly.

REGULAR SEASON DIVISIONS

U8 and Under Instructional (2nd Grade and Under)
 is an in-house recreational league. This is a non-competitive, open participation league, to introduce the fundamentals of lacrosse. Practice is likely one night a week with the possibility of in-house scrimmages later in the season. Practice will be with a soft, sponge ball. A lacrosse stick is required. A helmet is recommended, but not required during practice, and should be worn during a scrimmage. 

U10 (3rd/4th Grade) is a travel league program. Players will be instructed on the fundamentals of lacrosse for their age group and will play in games against nearby schools. Prior lacrosse experience is not necessary to participate. In March, practice is typically two nights a week. During the season, expect some combination of practice/games two to three times a week. The practice/game schedule depends on coaching availability and schedule. Full lacrosse equipment is needed, and is not provided by WYSI. To play in games, each player must have a valid US Lacrosse ID.

EQUIPEMENT


Equipment

The registration fee includes a custom-designed, reversible jersey, field time, referee fees, IYLA tournament fees, practice and game balls, and goals.

Full lacrosse equipment is needed, and is not provided by WYSI. The following equipment is needed to participate at the U10-U14 levels:

  • Helmet
  • Chest protector
  • Gloves and Elbow pads
  • Mouth guard
  • Protective Cup
  • Lacrosse Stick
  • Cleats/lacrosse shoes (optional)
  • Water bottle
  • U10 - U14 must have valid US Lacrosse ID to play in games
