Welcome to WYSI Track & Field!

For 2022 we are building on the success of the program in recent years. Once again, we have numerous opportunities for our athletes to compete in local track and field meets. In addition, we have the privilege of calling one of the state’s newest and best equipped track and field facilities our home!

We will discuss the season in greater detail at Parents Meeting on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. in the Westfield Middle School Cafeteria.

Practices: Practices will begin Monday, May 2nd promptly at 6:30 p.m. and conclude at 7:30 p.m. (unless otherwise noted on calendar).  Practices will be held primarily on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. It is not required to attend every practice but encouraged to participate whenever possible. Practices will be divided up by age groups. Parents with children 8 and younger will be asked to stay at the track during practice times.

In-House Meets: We will host two in-house meets scheduled for 5/12 and 5/26. Plan to be at the track 10 minutes before meet start time with the last event finishing around 8:30 p.m. This time is approximate and may change based on the number of participants. Athletes will have an opportunity to try a variety of events in our open call format. These events are relatively laid back and fun. Bring a blanket to lay out and watch from the infield. A Google form will be sent out to register your child for these no cost in-house meets. Numerous volunteers will be needed to assist with officiating, timing and to ensure a smooth experience for our athletes.

Track events* for In-house meets:  50m (8 and under), 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1600m, 100m Hurdles (13+)

Relays: 4X100, 4X400

Field events for In-house meets: Shot put, Discus, Javelin, Long Jump, High Jump
* This is NOT the order of events. We will hand out order of events at Parents Meeting

All athletes (born 2015 and prior) in our club will have the opportunity to participate in four (4) local Saturday meets as part of the IYTA (Indiana Youth Track Association). The dates and locations of these meets will be confirmed and shared at the parents meeting on 4/27. Unfortunately these are only open to children turning 7 (anytime during 2022) and older. This is out of our control and regulated by a USATF membership required for the IYTA meets.

Additional information about the IYTA can also be found here: Indiana Youth Track Association | Indiana's Premiere

USATF Membership Information regarding USATF membership will be covered at the Parents Meeting on April 27th.
