As part of the OrthoIndy Seminar Series, Westfield Youth Sports, Inc. will be hosting Dr. Chris Carr, a licensed sport and performance psychologist, and Jackie Dikos, a sports nutritionist, on Tuesday, March 21 at 7:00 p.m. Please join us at the Grand Park Events Center for this informative talk. Dr. Chris Carr is the Sport and Performance Psychologist and Coordinator for Sport and Performance Psychology at St Vincent Sports Performance in Indianapolis, Indiana. In this role, which started in August of 2006, Dr. Carr coordinates training, supervision, research, and applied practice in the area of sport and performance psychology. He also provides individual counseling and consultation services; he is a licensed psychologist in the state of Indiana and is HSPP-endorsed. He is the Team Performance Psychologist for the Indiana Pacers (NBA) and the Indiana Fever (WNBA) and was the consulting sport psychologist for the Oklahoma City Thunder (2008-2011). He is the Consulting Sport Psychologist for the Purdue University Athletics Department (2001-2007; 2013 to Present) and was the Consulting Sport Psychologist for the Indiana University Athletic Department from 2005 to 2013. He was the USA Diving National Team Sport Psychologist from 2004-2008 and was in Beijing for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games as the USA Olympic Diving Team Sport Psychologist. He is an Ad Hoc Member and first psychologist on the NCAA Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sport Committee (CSMAS), a position he will serve until 2016; he was also an invited attendee at the first NCAA Mental Health Task Force Committee meeting held at the NCAA in November of 2013. Dr. Carr is also a Certified Consultant, for the Association for Applied Sport Psychology.
Jackie Dikos is a board certified Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with board certification as a Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) and is Certified as a Lifestyle Eating and Performance Therapist. She received her Bachelors of Science degree in Dietetics at the University of Cincinnati and completed the Indiana University Dietetic Internship in Indianapolis. Jackie provides individualized nutrition counseling and education to those seeking assistance in sports and fitness related nutrition, food sensitivity, weight loss or gain, medical nutrition therapy, disordered eating, and general health and wellness. Her professional history includes clinical experience working with medical conditions in infants, children, and adult populations. She speaks on nutrition, health, wellness, and exercise in a variety of settings including the club, team, and corporate environments. She has been a contributor to Running Times Magazine and www.runningtimes.com; and has been cited as a source in other popular magazines including Runner’s World, Women’s Running, and Shape.
