WYSI Sportsmanship Statement

WYSI is sending a reminder to coaches, parents, and fans with regard to its expectations for sportsmanship, which includes treating opponents and umpires with respect (refer to our Code of Conduct on our website for additional information). Profanity, degrading remarks, and intimidating actions/behavior directed at officials, competitors, or fans will not be tolerated and are grounds for removal from the event site (and possible further repercussion beyond the event). Additionally, spectators should not enter the competition area during warm-ups or while the contest is being conducted.

WYSI is currently investigating an alleged violation of the Code of Conduct by one of our travel coaches. As part of our review process, we are obtaining statements from the tournament director, sport governing body, coaches from both teams, umpires, fans, and other witnesses. We hope all involved and impacted by this incident understand it can take some time to obtain and review information collectively. It is our intent to account for all perspectives and remain as objective and unbiased as possible throughout this process.

It is essential for everyone involved with WYSI to uphold our high standards and expectations for sportsmanship as representatives of our organization and community. To be clear, WYSI does not condone, support, or tolerate behavior that represents any deviation from these established policies and guidelines.

Thank you for your cooperation in the promotion of good sportsmanship at all WYSI events.
